PANORAMA Outdoor Chair

Tiptoe's PANORAMA chair takes its cue from Gerrit Rietveld's Beugel chair, with a seat and back of folded sheet steel.

Tiptoe, the Paris studio founded in 2015 and a Certified B Corp since 2022, makes it in France and Lithuania. The steel is primed by cataphoresis, the electro-chemical epoxy coat used on cars and street furniture, then powder-coated. Embossed perforations in the seat let rain drain away, and the chair dismantles for repair. More Tiptoe seating is in the Tiptoe collection.

Common Questions

Can it stay outside all year?
It is built for terraces and gardens, but Tiptoe recommends storing PANORAMA somewhere dry and well ventilated over winter, since frost and damp are hardest on outdoor furniture. Stacked four high, the chairs take little room.

Will the steel rust?
The steel is primed by cataphoresis, an electro-chemical epoxy layer applied before the powder coat, which Tiptoe calls its most effective rust protection. Tiptoe does not recommend daily use on the seafront, where salt air attacks metal.

Does it need assembling?
No. The chair is delivered fully assembled and ready to use. At 17.6 lbs it is light enough to move around the terrace, and it stacks up to four high.
