Tiptoe PLI Steel Wall Shelf

Designed in-house by the Tiptoe design studio in Paris and produced in Lithuania, the PLI Steel Wall Shelf is a single sheet of folded steel — no welds, no brackets, no visible hardware. The shelf cantilevers from the wall with two concealed mounting points and earns its name from the French verb plier, to fold. It joins Tiptoe's other geometric wall pieces in a vocabulary the studio has been refining since 2015: simple, restrained, painted in a tightly curated palette. Tiptoe became a Certified B Corp in 2021 and manufactures every piece in Europe — about twenty partner workshops across France, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania and the Netherlands. Steel was chosen for two reasons. It is the world's most recycled material (roughly 80-90% of steel used in Europe has been recycled at least once) and it stays structural for decades, which keeps PLI out of landfill for far longer than the plywood-and-laminate alternatives it competes with. The powder-coat finish is applied in matte solid colors that read clean against any wall paint.

Available in three widths and four powder-coated colors: 11.8in (W11.8 × D5.9 × H4.7 in), 17.7in (W17.7 × D5.9 × H4.7 in) and 23.6in (W23.6 × D5.9 × H4.7 in). Colors are Eucalyptus Grey, Cream White, Rock Blue and Napoli Yellow. Shelves weigh 4-7 lbs depending on size. Screws and wall plugs are included; installation takes a few minutes per shelf and the mounting brackets are concealed behind the folded steel face. Dust with a soft dry cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, never abrasives or solvents. The product is fully demountable and the steel is recyclable at end of life — design choices that earn PLI a place in the disassembly-friendly architecture the studio applies across its catalog. For the cost of one mid-tier flatpack shelving unit, you get a piece designed to last decades rather than seasons.
