Tiptoe PLI Steel Wall Shelf

Plier, the French verb to fold: one sheet of steel bent into a shelf, with no separate brackets.

PLI is the most reduced of the geometric wall pieces Tiptoe's Paris studio has been refining since 2015 — a single powder-coated steel fold, made in Lithuania, that mounts through two holes in the shelf itself with the supplied screws and wall plugs. Each shelf carries up to 33 lbs. Steel is the most recycled material on earth, and Tiptoe notes that 80 to 90% of the steel used in Europe has been recycled at least once; more in the Tiptoe collection.

How does PLI mount to the wall?
Through two holes in the folded steel itself, using the screws and wall plugs supplied. There is no separate bracket, so fixing choice matters — match the plugs to plasterboard, brick or concrete.

How much can each shelf hold?
Tiptoe rates each PLI shelf at up to 33 lbs, on a properly anchored wall. That covers books, plates or a small speaker across any of the three widths.
