Type 80 T1 Table Lamp

Sir Kenneth Grange, Pentagram co-founder and Anglepoise's design director from 2003 to 2024, distilled the Type 80 into its most compact form with the T1 in 2026.

It keeps the Type 80 signature, a halo light-escape that glows softly around the shade while the main beam works below. A spring joint at the shade aims the light precisely, the switch sits on the shade, and the slim, weighted lozenge base leaves room on a desk or nightstand. Does it come with a bulb?
Yes. Anglepoise ships the T1 with a bulb in the box, so it is ready to use straight away. The on/off switch is built into the shade rather than the cord, keeping the silhouette clean.

Is it plug-in or hardwired?
Plug-in. The T1 stands on a weighted steel base with a 70.9 inch cable, so it needs only a nearby outlet. Anglepoise designed it for desks and bedside tables where space is tight.

What is the difference between the metal and glass versions?
The three metal versions have an aluminum shade that directs a focused task beam. The Pale Putty glass version uses an opal glass shade that diffuses the light into a softer glow for bedrooms and quiet corners.
