Lunar Pendant
Three halos circle an opal glass moon — Johanna Hartikainen charts the lunar cycle in a pendant.
The Helsinki-based designer and interior architect drew Lunar from ancient astronomical observation: rings of black painted metal orbit the glass sphere like waning and waxing moons, and the phases appear to shift as you move around it. Hung alone or in clusters over a dining table, it is the most poetic fixture in the WOUD collection.

What do the three rings represent?
The cycle of waning and waxing moons — from most angles they overlap into the impression of a full moon, and the phases seem to change as you walk around the pendant.
Does the Lunar Pendant cast harsh shadows?
No — the opal glass sphere diffuses the light softly, while the halos throw harmonious ring shadows that are part of the design's effect.
