It is beech, black painted — the deliberate alternative to oak, since nature-oak leaves can only be grade-matched when ordered with a new table. The painted surface reads as a clean contrast band when the 45.3-inch round top opens up.

Why is it not available in oak?
Nature-oak leaves are only sold together with a new table, two at a time, so FDB Møbler can match the wood grade. Leaves purchased separately come in black- or grey-painted beech instead.
