FDB Møbler
Danish furniture, beautiful and accessible since 1942
FDB Møbler began in 1942, when Børge Mogensen set out to make furniture that was both beautiful and affordable. It still makes his designs alongside new ones, and every piece is tested at the Danish Technological Institute.

J18 Chair - Brown
Brown-oiled oak gives Mogensen's 1945 Windsor chair the depth of a piece that's been loved for decades.
The J18 from FDB Møbler carries Børge Mogensen's signature restraint — a solid backrest flowing into armrests that fit under most tabletops, above a bowl-shaped seat with a gentle backward slope. The brown oil warms the oak grain without hiding it.

Common Questions
How does brown-oiled oak differ from natural?
The pigmented oil deepens the oak toward walnut territory while the grain stays visible — a warmer, more traditional look that pairs with darker tables and floors.
Is the wooden seat comfortable without a cushion?
Yes — the seat is carved into a shallow bowl that slopes gently backwards, a shape Mogensen borrowed from Windsor chairs precisely because it seats well bare.
