J27 Stool - Jet Black
Restraint was Børge Mogensen's signature; his 1940s J27 stool practices it in jet black.
Designed while Mogensen led the FDB Møbler studio, the J27 is the working stool of Danish modernism — dining table overflow, homework seat, impromptu side table. Here in beech painted Jet Black (RAL 9005) with water-based paint, built to last and patinate.

Common Questions
Can the J27 serve as a side table?
Yes — the flat 13.8-inch seat holds a tray, lamp, or book stack as readily as a person, which is why the J27 tends to migrate around the house.
Will the black paint chip with daily use?
The water-based finish is made for everyday knocks; like the rest of the stool, Mogensen intended it to wear gradually into character rather than stay showroom-perfect.
