J27 Stool

Solid oak under clear lacquer — the J27 stool as Børge Mogensen's materials-first philosophy intended.

Designed in the 1940s during Mogensen's tenure at the FDB Møbler design studio, the J27 is a quietly versatile stool for the table, the hallway, or the bedside. The oak version is the heartiest of the range, its grain preserved under a water-based nature lacquer.

Common Questions

Why choose oak over beech here?
Oak brings bolder grain and a slightly heavier build — 6.6 versus 6.3 pounds — and develops the classic golden patina Mogensen's oak pieces are known for.

Is the J27 an original Mogensen design?
Yes — it dates from his time as head of FDB Møbler's design studio in the 1940s, the era that defined the brand's simple, durable furniture.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
