P12 Children rocking horse

Mogensen's granddaughter drew the horse — from a knight on a chessboard to the children's room floor.

Designer Sarah Moutouh, Børge Mogensen's granddaughter, shaped the P12 rocking horse for FDB Møbler with the chess knight as her starting point. Solid beech in soft blue-grey paint (NCS S2005-G10Y), with grain-leather reins that gain patina through years of adventures.

Common Questions

What age suits the rocking horse?
It gives smaller children the freedom to sit without sitting still — broadly the toddler-to-preschool years, once a child can climb on and hold the leather reins confidently.

Why the chess-knight shape?
Sarah Moutouh borrowed the knight's simple, iconic profile to keep the horse graphic and timeless — a design-room answer to a toy-store classic.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
