Why felt rather than woven fabric?
Felt is dense, non-fraying, and among the oldest textiles known — it wears evenly on a bench top and carries a long history in Scandinavian design.
Can the bench still be a table with the cushion?
Yes — lift the cushion off and the flat bench top returns to low-table duty; the 2.8 lbs pad stores flat behind a sofa or in a closet.
