Quasar Portable Lamp

Nine settings, no cord, and an IP54 rating — a lamp you can carry from the dinner table to the garden wall.

Samy Rio spent two years developing Quasar for Petite Friture, landing on an aluminium cylinder that bevels inward toward a rechargeable LED under a disc shade. A braided polyester rope runs through a rectangular eyelet at the top, doubling as a handle and an optional way to suspend it. The lamp incorporates recycled materials.

Common Questions

How long does a charge last?
About 6 hours at full output, 12 hours at 50 percent and 24 hours at 25 percent. Nine total settings come from three brightness levels crossed with three color temperatures.

Can it stay outside?
It is rated IP54, which covers dust and splashing water, so it handles a terrace, a balcony rail or a garden table. Bring it indoors to charge and for winter storage.

Can it hang?
Yes. The braided polyester rope through the top eyelet is designed to work as a carrying handle or a hanging loop over a hook, branch or rail.
