B5 Shelf

Solid oak on the wall, nothing more — the B5 has been keeping books within reach since Børge Mogensen’s student days.

The mid-width B5 spans 31.5 inches, enough for a proper row of books or records, in nature lacquered solid oak from FDB Møbler. Mogensen drew it while still at the Academy of Fine Arts Furniture School — the beginning of the FDB era — and its modular construction lets shelves be added as collections grow.

The B5 comes in 15.7, 31.5, and 39.4-inch widths, all 8.3 inches deep. This 31.5-inch middle size holds a solid row of books while fitting most wall sections.

Can it hold LP records?
The shelf was conceived for books, LPs, and similar items; note the 8.3-inch depth, so standard record sleeves will overhang the front edge slightly.
