J164C Counter squared

Counter seating rarely comes out of the Danish golden-age playbook; Jørgen Bækmark's square-seat stool fixes that.

Released by FDB Møbler to celebrate Bækmark's 90th birthday, the J164 counter stool sets a woven paper cord seat on a nature-lacquered oak frame. The pale oak and natural cord keep a kitchen island light, and the simple lines match his J80-series dining chairs.

Materials

Oak, nature lacquered (water-based); woven paper cord seat

Common Questions

What height surface does this stool suit?
The 27-inch seat is counter height, sized for standard 36-inch kitchen counters and islands. If your surface is a 40-inch-plus bar top, the J164B bar version is the right fit.

Will it match my other Danish chairs?
Very likely — Bækmark designed with the same paper cord and clean oak lines used across FDB Møbler's woven seating, so it reads as family with J80-series chairs and similar classics.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
