FDB Møbler began in 1942, when Børge Mogensen set out to make furniture that was both beautiful and affordable. It still makes his designs alongside new ones, and every piece is tested at the Danish Technological Institute.

J52B Chair - Jet Black
A 16th-century English silhouette, a 1952 Danish edit, and jet-black paint — the J52B distilled.
Børge Mogensen lightened the traditional Windsor chair into simple staves for FDB Møbler, keeping the deep comfort that reportedly made it President Kennedy's favorite chair to relax in. Here in beech painted Jet Black (RAL 9005), water-based.

Common Questions
How is the J52B different from other Windsor chairs?
Mogensen stripped the ornament and lightened the staves — the result sits like a traditional Windsor but reads clean and Nordic, at a manageable 12.3 pounds.
Does the tall back suit dining tables?
Yes — at 35.4 inches the curved-top back rises above the table line gracefully, and the chair works equally well pulled aside as a reading seat.
