J52B Chair

Pale beech staves and a curved crest — Mogensen's 1952 Windsor lightened to Nordic weight.

The J52B from FDB Møbler reworks the comfortable 16th-century English Windsor with simple staves and clean lines; it reportedly became President Kennedy's favorite chair for relaxing. This version is nature-lacquered beech, water-based, grain visible.

Common Questions

Is the J52B comfortable without cushions?
Notably so — the Windsor geometry Mogensen preserved angles the staved back for relaxed sitting, making it one of the few wooden chairs people choose for lounging.

What footprint should I plan for?
About 22.1 by 24.4 inches — deeper than a standard dining chair because of the reclined back, so allow a little extra room behind.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
