J80 Chair

Soap-treated beech — the palest, most Scandinavian finish Bækmark's woven dining chair can wear.

The J80 from FDB Møbler pairs a solid beech frame with a woven paper cord seat, here in the traditional soap-treated finish that keeps the wood nearly white. A 1950s golden-age design in its most Nordic dress.

Common Questions

What is a soap-treated finish?
A traditional Scandinavian treatment where the wood is finished with soap flakes — it keeps beech at its palest and is refreshed simply by re-soaping over the years.

Does the pale finish suit family use?
Yes, with its own logic: soap finishes are renewable at home, so marks are washed and re-soaped away rather than sealed in.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
