The J46 spoke-back chair from 1956 is one of FDB Møbler’s best-selling products. It is estimated that Poul Volther’s enduring classic has been among the best-selling chairs in Denmark. Poul M. Volther (1923–2001) succeeded Børge Mogensen as head of the FDB Møbler design studio in 1950. A trained cabinetmaker and lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy, he created the iconic J46 chair—Denmark's best-selling chair with over 850,000 units sold.
