Arne Jacobsen City Hall Table Clock, Ø: 4.3"

Four matte colorways of the 1939 table clock, each carrying the numberless Rødovre dial.

The City Hall face — markers only, no numerals — is the most reduced of the four Jacobsen drew, and it works particularly well at bedside scale. The body is the 1939 table clock for Lauritz Knudsen, on bent steel legs from the Bauhaus industrial idiom, with alarm, snooze, and a sensor-triggered backlight. Common Questions

Can I read it without numerals?
Easily. The City Hall dial uses graduated markers instead of numbers, which is what Jacobsen drew for Rødovre Town Hall in 1955 — legible at a glance, quieter on a bedside table.

How loud is the alarm?
It is a conventional bedside alarm with snooze, set by the third hand. The light sensor on top switches on the backlight so you can check the time without reaching for a lamp.

Do the matte colors change the finish?
Yes — Mat Sand, Mat Orange, and Mat Blue have a flat, non-reflective case, while Black is the standard finish. The dial and mechanism are identical across all four.

Arne Jacobsen Clocks +

Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) is one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Scandinavian modernism. His clock designs — Bankers, Station, City Hall and Roman — were originally drawn for Denmark's National Bank, Aarhus City Hall and Rødovre Town Hall in the 1930s–70s and remain in continuous production. Each piece is built around an aluminum case with mineral-glass lens. Produced under license by Rosendahl Design Group, a Certified B Corp.

Care Guide +

Wipe Arne Jacobsen clocks with a dry, lint-free cloth — never use water, glass cleaner or solvents on the aluminum case or mineral-glass lens. Replace the AA battery (table clocks) or C-cell (large wall clocks) once a year to prevent leakage. Hang wall clocks on a single secure screw and avoid mounting in direct sunlight, bathrooms or near heat sources, which can affect movement accuracy.
