J46 Chair - Dust & Bones

An off-white with warmth in it — the Dust Bones J46 keeps Volther's 1956 lines soft-spoken.

This single spoke-back chair from FDB Møbler is painted in Dust Bones, a greyed bone-white from the brand's palette, on beech with water-based paint. The frame beneath is Denmark's long-running best-seller, designed by Poul Volther.

Common Questions

Is Dust Bones white or grey?
Between — a muted, mineral off-white that avoids stark white's coolness, sitting easily with linen, pale woods, and plaster tones.

Can a single chair join an existing J46 set?
Yes — all J46 finishes share the identical 1956 frame, so one Dust Bones chair blends with painted or natural siblings seamlessly.

Care Guide +

FDB Møbler furniture is crafted from FSC-certified wood, powder-coated steel, and OEKO-TEX textiles. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight. Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. For lacquered surfaces, avoid harsh chemicals. For oiled wood, re-oil periodically. For upholstery, vacuum regularly and address spills promptly. Lift furniture rather than dragging across floors.
