Mater Furniture

Mater, founded in 2006 in Copenhagen, was built on a single conviction: that sustainable furniture should not have to look sustainable — it should simply be beautifully designed and quietly responsible underneath.

Founders Henrik Marstrand and the Mater design team collaborate with Space Copenhagen, Eva Harlou, and Børge Lindau among others on collections including the Bowl table, the Earth chair, and the Mater Accent stools. Pieces from the catalog have been specified in award-winning hospitality and residential projects across Scandinavia and North America.

The sustainability story: Certified B Corporation, with the patented Matek material — a composite of waste coffee grounds and recycled plastic developed in-house — alongside FSC-certified wood, recycled aluminum, and traceable upholstery textiles. Mater publishes a transparent annual sustainability report and discloses the recycled content of each product.
